During 2 years, I shared the daily life of the Aymara community in the largest salt flat in the world. The Aymara communities is in themselves, stories of communities who built a life in one of the most extreme places in the world, in the margins of the Uyuni salt desert in Bolivia. The global appeal for quinoa transformed the local Aymara as 47% of the quinoa consumed globally is grown in Bolivia on the margins of the largest salt flat in the world where the Aymara community lives. As the advent of globalization was more pronounced in 2006, the ancestral knowledge of the Amyara are slowly disappearing, their cultural and poetic heritage fading as they their customs and their connection to the land are eroded by the change of the local economic landscape.
